Qatar Says State News Agency First Hacked in April

Trump Underlines Need for Arab Unity During Call With Egypt's President

Turkey's parliament has begun debating legislation for increased military cooperation with Qatar in an apparent move to support the country amid its dispute with Saudi Arabia and other regional nations. After first appearing to back the Saudi-led measures against Qatar on Twitter, he shifted gears and called for unity among Gulf Arab states.

In addition, Turkish gendarmes will be able to train Qatari forces, under another deal between the two countries' interior ministries in December 2015.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain announced on Monday they were cutting diplomatic ties and closing air, sea and land links with Qatar.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Associated Press, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani repeatedly denied his country funded extremists and rejected the idea of shutting down its Al-Jazeera satellite news network.

Qatar's unit in Yemen included over 1,000 troops.

US President Donald Trump is offering to mediate the Qatar diplomatic crisis by hosting the feuding countries for a White House meeting.

The small Gulf Arab state is a critical global supplier of gas and hosts the biggest US military base in the Middle East.

"We believe this will exacerbate Qatar's external vulnerabilities and could put pressure on economic growth and fiscal metrics", the ratings agency said.

North Korea says it has tested new anti-ship missile
Pyongyang launched several land-to-sea missiles early Thursday, under the supervision of leader Kim Jong Un , KCNA said. Japan on the other hand, began to exert more military support for the coalition against North Korea .

In a day of mixed messages and chaotic diplomacy, Tillerson emphasized the economic, humanitarian and military damage he said the blockade was inflicting.

The downgrade came as Qatar's currency fell to an 11-year low and its stock market tumbled, a BBC report said.

UAE-based newspaper Gulf News and pan-Arab channel Al-Arabiya reported the crackdown on expressions of sympathy with Qatar.

Qatar says it intends to take legal action against those responsible.

On top of a possible jail term, offenders could also be hit with a fine of at least 500,000 dirhams ($136,000), the newspaper said, citing a statement to Arabic-language media. Newspapers and television channels in the region have also been engaged in a war of words.

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister says it's with "great pain" his country and others took measures against Qatar and insists the "crisis" with the small Gulf nation goes back years.

The United States, France and Russian Federation have called for dialogue while Turkey has defended Qatar and said it would further "develop" ties with Doha. "We hope that cooler heads will prevail, that wiser heads will prevail and we will not get to that".
