Warner Bros. Developing 'The Accountant' Sequel With Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck's 2016 action/drama vehicle The Accountant was a unusual beast; the story of an autistic math savant (Affleck) who also happened to be one of the most lethal assassins on the the planet. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for unsafe criminal organizations, and he's quite the deadly man himself, a deadeye with a sniper rifle and pretty skilled when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. The film grossed a solid $155.1 million worldwide, which is fine but doesn't exactly scream "sequel" so it's curious to see Warner Bros. putting this follow-up together. Amongst the film's co-stars is Jon Bernthal (Netflix's The Punisher, The Walking Dead) as Braxton Wolf, a hired gun initially sent to kill Chris, with whom he eventually reaches a plot-twisting détente. After duking it out, Chris takes it upon himself to kill the corporate criminal by shooting him in the head, and the two brothers agree to meet up in about a week. Luckily, they just might have such a hero in Ben Affleck's character from The Accountant, because Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has begun working on a sequel to director Gavin O'Connor's 2016 action film.

While The Accountant might not have gotten great reviews from critics, the film went on to win over the praise of fans.
